Local Schools

We have no primary school in the village, however there are three excellent small primary schools serving Skillington.

Buckminster Primary  www.buckminster.leics.sch.uk

Colsterworth www.colsterworth.linc.sch.uk

Great Ponton CofE school www.greatpontonprimary.schnet.org

All are about 2 miles away.

The secondary schools are in Grantham of which there are many. The most famous being The Kings School which is now a fully selective Academy Grammar School. The bus service timings are ideal for pupils to commute from the village.

The Cross Swords

The Cross Swords Pub is right in the centre of Skillington. Both geographically and socially!

Since Charlotte and her partner Alan bought the pub in 2019 they have made, and are continuing to make, many changes to the benefit of both drinkers and diners.

There is nowhere like the local to gain an understanding of the true spirit and friendliness of a village.

During these difficult times where the pub has has to close its doors due to the Corona virus Charlotte has opened a little popup shop where anyone can purchase household essentials without going out of the village. If she hasn’t got it she will get it. We look forward to regular “get togethers”  with both villagers and visitors in the bar when this pandemic is over.
